United Nations: Crisis of Credibility
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has announced the startling news that the United Nations faces “imminent financial collapse,” arising from
member nations not paying their annual dues. The financial crisis reflects a growing belief that the UN has become increasingly ineffective. The UN has become “more politicized, less principled, and increasingly disconnected from its founding mission,” according to one observer.
Much of the problem lies with the failure of the United Nations to uphold its founding principles, especially statements that affirm the need for gender equality:
- UN Charter — Preamble reaffirms the necessity for “equal rights of men and women.”
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights — Article 2: “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, [or] sex,…”
Extensive analyses by the International Council for Men and Boys reveal numerous disparities affecting men. These disparities have been documented at both the global level and in over 50 countries around the world. But UN reports, such as “Men, Masculinities and Humanitarian Settings” falsely claim that the problem lies with men themselves, especially their “harmful masculinity norms” and “patriarchal attitudes.”
In addition, UN programs reveal a pattern of distorting science and promoting gender inequality. For example, hundreds of studies show domestic violence is an equal opportunity problem that affects both men and women. But the World Health Organization not only ignores female-perpetrated abuse, it even argues for “Putting Women First.”

Campaign to Reform the UN
The International Council for Men and Boys is working to achieve three key reforms by the United Nations:
1. Recognition of International Men’s Day.
2. Reporting of male and female outcomes from UN programs.
3. Recognition of the New York Declaration for Men and Boys.

Campaign to Stop Michele Bachelet
Antonio Guterres will be stepping down as the UN Secretary-General at the end of 2026. The leading candidate to replace him is Michelle Bachelet of Chile. From 2010 to 2013, Bachelet was the Executive Director of UN Women.
For years, Bachelet has been an aggressive advocate for feminist ideology. Her views are so extreme that Chilean President José Antonio Kast has publicly withdrawn support for her candidacy and declared her bid to lead the United Nations “not viable.”
As permanent members of the UN Security Council, the United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China each have the power to veto her candidacy. A global campaign is being mounted to urge these countries to block her radical effort.

Analyses of Sex-Specific UN Programs
The International Council for Men and Boys has analyzed how well the United Nations has addressed the 12 areas of male disparity. In every case, ICMB found that the UN has failed to address the disadvantages faced by men. And despite mandates to ensure “equal rights of men and women,” in many areas the UN actually promotes female advantage:

- Education: UN Gender Education Initiatives Reveal Unacceptable Policy Gaps for Boys and Young Men
- Boys: Double-Standard: UN Child Protection Framework Ignores Risks to Boys
- False Allegations: False Allegations and the United Nations: A Policy Blind Spot with Serious Consequences for Men
- Victims of Violence: United Nations Policies Silence Male Victims of Violence
- Parenting: UN Parenting Policies and Family Court Systems Exclude Fathers
- Criminal System: United Nations Criminal Justice Policies Ignore Male Offenders and Detainees
- Partner Abuse: UN Policies Leave Male Victims of Partner Abuse Unprotected
- Homelessness: Gender Blind Spot: United Nations Neglects the Global Crisis of Male Homelessness
- Workplace: UN Workplace Policies Ignore Men Despite Highest Death Rates
- Adoption and Reproductive Rights: UN Reproductive Policies Exclude Fathers From Major Family Decisions
- Media Portrayals: UN Media Campaigns Normalize Bias Against Men
